Gas Turbine Certification Programs

The Gas Turbine Certification Programs will be broken down into two classifications, Simple Cycle and Combined Cycle. The program will be also divided into Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations. The primary discipline is directed toward large utility steam plants, but includes options directed toward municipality, industrial, and production facilities.

This Gas Turbine Certification Program is instructed by personnel, who are products of advanced OEM developmental programs and/or graduates of the HPC Technical Institute's programs, and have an appropriate level of experience given the selected topic

Gas Turbine Field Engineer
This Certification Program is designed for the field engineers responsible for the overall supervision of simple cycle gas turbine units and combined cycle units. The courses listed below are designed to prepare the individual for the certification examination. Some of the courses are not required, although an examination is required in each area.

CT307 - Gas Turbine-Generator Controls for Operators
TG307 - Steam Turbine-Generator Controls for Operators
Qualify as plant I&C Technician

Gas Turbine Auxiliary Operator (Combined Cycle)
The gas turbine combined cycle auxiliary operators are the plant operators that generally remain out in the plant and ensure proper operation of all equipment in a variety of systems. It is generally the auxiliary operator who can detect problems in a plant by the use of his/her senses, such as sound, smell, touch, and sight. A general knowledge of all systems is required to be a good qualified auxiliary operator. The courses listed below are designed to prepare the individual for the certification examinations. Some of the courses are not required, although an examination is required in each area.

CT301 - Combined Cycle Fundamentals
M306 - Centrifugal Pumps
E200 - Electrical Fundamentals
M205 - Maintaining Mechanical Systems

Gas Turbine Control Room Operator
Control room operators are plant operators that take control of the equipment on the operational basis from the control room. It is the responsibility of the control room operator, to operate the plant in a safe efficient manner. They must ensure proper operation at all times and answer any abnormal situations, and maintain plant output at the direction of the system controllers. The courses listed below are designed to prepare the individual for the certification examinations. Some of the courses are not required, although an examination is required in each area.

Simple Cycle
CT300 - Combustion Turbine Fundamentals
CT307 - Gas Turbine-Generator Controls for Operators
G310 - Generators-Normal/Abnormal Operation
CT401 - Combustion Turbine Performance

Combined Cycle
CT402 - Combine Cycle Performance
CT405 - Combined Cycle Controls for Operators
G310 - Generators: Normal/Abnormal Operation
OP202 - Electrical Systems for Operators
OP316 - Protective Relaying for Operators
Already obtained the Auxiliary Operator Certification
