CT300 - Combustion Turbine Generator Fundamentals
|
 |
2 days - 1.3 Continuing Education Units Awarded

In today's market, combustion turbines are an essential component in power production. Combustion Turbines are used in various applications including, simple cycle peaking plants, or combined cycle operations. Understanding the fundamentals, components, support systems, and reliability is essential in safe and efficient operation.
This Seminar targets new combustion turbine operators, supervisors, and management.
This Seminar is the first 2 days of the 4-day class of CT301, Combined Cycle-Generator Fundamentals.
BENEFITS
- Give your operators an insight to the construction and operation of a combustion turbine
- Understanding theory of the combustion turbine increases operator awareness
- Operators that have knowledge of combustion turbine construction will have a better knowledge of operation and maintenance
- Operators will have a better understanding of the combustion turbine generator
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this Seminar the participant should be able to:
- Describe the thermodynamic principles associated with the combustion turbine
- Describe the basic cycles used for different types of combustion engines
- List the major components of any combustion turbine and describe their function
- Discuss the various ways in which efficiency of a gas turbine can be changed
- Describe the flow through the combustion turbine, including any extraction points
- Identify and state the function of a given auxiliary system and describe its operation
- Describe the effects that humidity, ambient temperature, compressor ratio, firing temperature, exhaust temperature, and exhaust pressure have on turbine performance
- Describe the ability to determine turbine output and heat rate
- Identify the component parts of a generator as they relate to stator or rotor
- Trace the flowpath for the various generator auxiliary systems
- Describe the major components of the generator auxiliary systems
